Highlights
We are seeking a Full-Time Neonatal Hospitalist to join our Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine (PHM) Division in the Chicago suburbs through our unique community hospitalist track. This role offers a mixture of academic and community practice, with approximately 50% of clinical time spent at a Level IV NICU and the remaining 50% at affiliated community hospitals.

Our Level IV NICU at ACH–Oak Lawn is a 61-bed unit with an average daily census of 40–50 infants and approximately 800–900 annual admissions. We care for complex patients, including those with congenital heart disease, and offer advanced therapies such as HFOV, HFJV, NAVA, and ECMO.

Position Highlights
Level IV NICU – Advocate Children’s Hospital (50% of clinical time)
  • Independently manage Level II NICU patients (census: 6–15), including:
    • Daily rounding, assessment, and care planning
    • Order entry and documentation
    • Communication with nursing staff, consultants, and families
    • Collaborate with in-house neonatologist for backup and support

  • Attend high-risk deliveries with neonatology support on-site
  • Perform newborn resuscitation and stabilization per NRP guidelines
  • Participate in multidisciplinary discharge planning
  • Support medical education of pediatric residents and students

Community Hospitals – Sherman, Condell, Good Shepherd (50% of clinical time)
  • 24-hour shift model with the following responsibilities:
    • Coverage of unassigned newborns in Level I nursery
    • Management of Level II nursery infants (with neonatology on consult)
    • Admission/readmission for jaundice or feeding issues
    • Attend high-risk deliveries with neonatology backup (training provided)
    • Pediatric ED consultations as needed
    • Co-management of stable adolescent post-op surgical patients
  • Good Shepherd: Provide telehealth consults to other Advocate EDs
  • Condell & Good Shepherd: Precept MS3 students from Rosalind Franklin University
  • EPIC EMR
  • Be part of an integrated nationally recognized organization with physician-led medical group and embedded service line
  • Leverage access to DAX Copilot, an AI-powered clinical documentation tool integrated with Epic, streamlining clinical workflows by generating draft patient notes for efficient review, editing, and signature
